TONIGHT at @birdlandjazz ! I am beyond excited to be sharing the stage with the @gilevansproject performing the suite “Sketches of Spain” from Miles Davis’ iconic 1960 album as featured soloist.

“Sketches” has long been my favorite of the Gil Evans/Miles Davis collaborations, so to have the opportunity to play the entire album w/ this amazing band in this historical space during Miles’ centennial year is a honor & dream come true - thanks so much to Ryan Truesdell for the invitation 🙏🏼

Martha, Alexis & I recorded the music to accompany “The Consequences of Feminism,” a 1906 French silent comedy film directed by Alice Guy about a society where the roles of men & women have been inverted.

Brooklyn Half Marathon 2026 @nyrr ✅ My 1st organized run & 13.1 miler since 2022. Amazing weather, great crowds, my awesome mom & sister @rachelcaswellvox cheering me on from Bloomington IN, & my sweet fiancé @michaelwdavis meeting up w/ me along the route & waiting at the finish line to give me the biggest & best celebratory hug - doesn’t get much better than that 🙏🏼🏃‍♀️💕 #brooklynhalfmarathon

In Jody’s words: “With this project, I wanted to craft a very focussed small ensemble album—exploring a balance of classical chamber music & jazz improvisation—& to explore how varied of a sound palette an intimate group of just four collaborators could create. Phenomenally talented collaborators Sara Caswell, Camila Meza, & @rgrboccato helped me find the sounds of these compositions & arrangements by @alanferber , Marc Copland, @chrischeekmusic , @caetanoveloso , & myself—balancing the chamber & jazz realms with deeply reactive ears, soaring sense of phrasing, & deep groove. I believe we’ve been able to infuse these works with an energetic beauty—making them repeatedly fun to perform live with continued exploration.”

Collaborating with these brilliant musicians & dear souls has been a joy beyond measure. Grateful to Jody for her invitation to be part of this project 🙏🏼

In Chris’ words: “I wrote this album around the story of John Brown - an abolitionist in the mid-1800s & an almost mythical American figure, whose audacious takeover of the armory at Harper’s Ferry (VA) was one of the immediate factors that tipped the country into Civil War. It’s a story that holds the complexity & tragedy of America in one moment, & it felt important to engage with it now.”

Rehearsing/recording Chris’ brilliant compositions w/ this stellar crew was a powerful & profound experience for me - grateful to Chris for his invitation to be part of this project 🙏🏼

What a thrill performing with my amazing @ghosttrainorchestra bandmates at this year’s @bigearsfestival - a big thank you to our fearless leader @bwcarpenter for all he has done to make the celebration of Moondog’s music a reality 🙏🏼This being my first time attending Big Ears, I now know why so many friends have flagged it as their favorite festival. An incredible artist line-up, beautiful performance spaces, enthusiastic audiences - an annual must-experience for musicians & music fans alike. Can’t wait for Big Ears 2027! #supportlivemusic

Back in Brooklyn following an inspiring weekend with the @gustavusadolphuscollege Jazz Ensemble in St Peter (MN). This group is truly something special: 27 young musicians united by their commitment to their artistic endeavors, each other, & the music they’ve been entrusted to perform - no egos, no attitudes, no slacking. A culture & environment nurtured by their brilliant ensemble director @dave_stamps , this is a residency I will long remember with gratitude. Thanks to all the folk at GAC & @croonersmn who had a part in making this weekend of performances possible & to the St Peter & Twin Cities communities for their enthusiastic support of live music 🙏🏼

A project two + years in the making, this collection of Emilio’s brilliant compositions is in tribute to the art human craft: the tradesmen/women, artists, & visionaries who spend their lives pursuing their skill through the blood, sweat, & tears of hard work, determination, & dedication (a fading pursuit in the times of AI).

Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes you were so kind to send my way these past few days. Last week, in an uncharacteristically Sara move, I left my violin home & boarded a flight with @michaelwdavis to Grand Cayman for a 5-day Caribbean vacation with loved ones. Though there was a little guilt tucking my stringed kiddo in the closet, it was necessary - the chance to take a breath & be fully present & connected with the moments, experiences, & people around me. To @nellredhage & Paul, @jodyredhageferber & @alanferber , Theo & E: I can’t thank you enough for this trip of a lifetime - love my Ferbage family!! And as I write this post back in Brooklyn with a blizzard raging outside my window, I’m feeling renewed, reconnected, & re-energized for this next trip around the sun. Sending love & warmth to all y’all! 🫶🏼

If someone would have told me six months ago @iubloomington would have a top-rated undefeated football team, that they would go to the @rosebowlgame for the 1st time in 58 years - AND WIN!! - and that I’d be there in person to experience it with my sister @rachelcaswellvox & 72,000 other loyal members of Hoosier Nation on NYD, I would’ve thought you were joking. What an amazing way to kick off 2026! So excited for @coachcignetti , @fernandomendoza , & the rest of this incredible @indianafootball team - let’s bring the National Championship title home to Bloomington!! 🏈🏆 Big thanks to @shmandreac & her family for hosting us NYE & sharing their Rose Bowl Parade traditions with us, as well as @dancoleguitar & his family for cooking us an amazing celebratory post-game feast.
